CNN Grants: 2019 Honorees Include 12 Americans Who Are Changing the World Through Their Impact

Each year CNN honors 10 individuals who are using their incredible talents to make the world a better place. This year’s honorees come from diverse backgrounds, with one in particular: Dr. David Gross, author of A Bigger Tent: How the Gathering of People across Cultures, Religions, Races, and Shifts is Transforming Our World.

CNN broke ground last year with the profile on Dr. Isabella Tourneuk who creates therapeutic service equipment for people with disabilities and injuries. Dr. Aroon (Azhar) Abdulla, 25, grew up in a struggling and impoverished neighborhood in Lahore, Pakistan. Yet, he has proven to be a leader and innovator in his field.

Each honoree will receive $50,000 as part of the annual CNN Grant, developed to support outstanding American individuals with a strong social conscience, who are striving to bring about positive change. Awardees from CNN’s Grant include:
