(CNN) — Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is expected to address the United Nations General Assembly next month, re-affirming his commitment to having a “constructive dialogue” with world powers on the country’s disputed nuclear program.

— He became the first leader of Iran to be elected by the public since 2009.
— The president first ran for president in 2009 after it was revealed the incumbent, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was going to be re-elected using fraudulent procedures, causing widespread protests.
